As we walked across the pavement at riverfront, a well know place for much of the sex trafficking in that area, the sun was beating down so unbearably hot that it was like walking across the top of a concrete dessert and so bright that I couldn’t keep my eyes pointed straight ahead. I had to continually look down at my feet as we trudged through this place of tragedy that is the crime scene of many women and even children being sold for sex every day. I couldn’t help but think to myself the irony of this place… that as the sun’s rays flood down from above, not leaving a shadow in sight, how much darkness surrounded us even in the midst of the light. So, I prayed. I prayed that God’s light would shine ever brighter into this place, so bright that Satan and his armies would have to flee and these people would have no choice but to either begin to walk in the Light or scatter like roaches with nowhere to hide. That these young people, who are tossed around like garbage, would see and love the Light, so that they too could experience freedom. True freedom that can only come from the One who has already paid our ransom. And that the totality of sin committed in this place would pale in comparison of the abundance of grace to be poured out upon those who repent. Praise be to God forever, amen.
“I am the Light of the world; Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the Light of life.”
