That’s the Point -by Todd Turcotte

The day dawns with aromas of food and fragrances of all types filling the humid air. Joggers run by as the street traffic starts to build. Still, very early the sounds of car and passing motorbike horns have yet to be heard in the normally very busy city streets of Phnom Penh. Accompanied by another AIM team member, we walk a block to have a coffee discussing yesterday’s events and today’s schedule. I am struck by the effectiveness of those volunteers and staff of International organizations working through local offices and with local authorities to turn back the tide of injustice regarding human trafficking in this area. It is so encouraging to hear of the statistics representing the goal of abolishing trafficking through education, employment, counseling, housing and family services, just to name a few.

And that’s the point…just a few dedicated people from around the globe can truly transform lives bringing hope to the hopeless and a future filled with promise to the boys, girls, and families of trafficking victims.

Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free”
