Within hours of venturing into Phnom Penh, it's hard to keep smiling since the trip begins by us learning the history of Cambodia – a big part of which was the mass genocide of the people. We visited the Killing Fields and S-21 in the same day. With that, I couldn't help but start praying and asking God what was going on here.
Instantly He answered me, telling me He was still here in Cambodia, still here working. I was still sad but I took the answer.
Within hours of starting the next day and over the rest of the trip, we visited many organizations focused on helping those being trafficked… and their aftercare. They were eye opening since they were the proof that God is working there. Progress can be seen daily when you see people being helped by these organizations.
It gave me back hope for the people there, it made them real people again with hopes instead of just victims. Seeing God's work showed me that this country isn't completely lost so much as it is slowly finding its way back to God.
